Ruth Whitehead Associates are sponsoring a virtual concert on Friday June 26 at 8pm to celebrate midsummer and raise money for the work of the charity founded by Ruth bringing creative resources to children in lockdown.
The concert features internationally acclaimed vocalist and composer Clara Sanabras and maverick musician Harvey Brough emerging from lockdown on the crest of an eclectic wave of original material from their projects A Hum About Mine Ears, Songs of Spanish Exile, Music on the Mind and collaboration with The Kinks’ Ray Davies.
Songs and settings of classic poetry by John Donne and John Clare will be interwoven with chart topping hits including Lola – all beamed out from St Matthias Church in Wordsworth Road.
Every penny raised will fund charity DissentersArtsN16’s lockdown initiative to bring creative resources to children and families so they can continue drawing, painting, modelling and schoolwork at home. Over 300 art sets, games and modelling materials have so far been delivered to pupils at St Matthias School, and families from Akwaaba, Hackney’s social centre for migrants.
The performance will last 75 minutes, and will be live for 24 hours Watch it HERE
